Mrs. Chandler became involved in the Riverside Art Association in the early 1960s and was president of Riverside Art Alliance in 1967–68. Her presidency year was highlighted by the Wild Wild West Happenings and Living with Art at La Atalya fundraisers. During her tenure in Art Alliance she was involved with many fund-raising projects. Emmie Lou was the Museum’s education coordinator for six years, a member of board of trustees, and received the museum's Top Dog award in 2002 for her service.
