
A Message From Our President!
At our annual meeting in May at Ciao Bella, I
took over the presidency of Art Alliance for 2010-2011 from Selina
B. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Selina again for
the wonderful job she did as our president. Our club raised over
$57,000 for the Riverside Art Museum last year. Selina was
instrumental in leading this effort. Good job ladies! I remember
the day Selina agreed to accept the presidency for our club. I was
somewhat surprised and impressed by her willingness to take over
such a monumental task. It really started me thinking that perhaps
I could do the same. It was her example that inspired me to have
that “sure, why not” moment and agree to take the presidency. As
nominating chair, Lucile A. was able to prepare an impressive list
of board members for our upcoming year. Thank you all so much for
your willingness to give of your time and effort to make our club
successful and viable.
Our plans for the 2010-2011 year include
several fundraising opportunities as well as social and fun events.
We will be helping with Off the Wall which will take place in late
November and early December. We are hoping to coordinate the event
with the Festival of Lights at the Mission Inn in order to increase
attendance and sales. Our holiday luncheon will be the second
Saturday in December. At this event we will be selling our second
orange ornament. Kathi F. is doing a fabulous job handling the
ornament sales. We are in the formative stage of planning a spring
project and are considering an antique appraisal and silent
auction.
I hope you are all enjoying your summer. I
have a few trips planned to visit family members and attend a
wedding. I’m tackling installing a new kitchen floor and paint job
which should be a challenge! I look forward to seeing all of you in
September at our general meeting!
