"Tree of Life"

.

This entry is inspired by The Giving Tree, the classic children’s book written and illustrated by Shel Silverstein and published by Harper Collins. It is the story of a boy and a tree in the forest who become best friends. The tree provides the boy fruit to eat and branches to play and climb in. As time goes by and the boy grows up, the tree gives more and more of itself to the boy as he asks for branches to build a house. The tree allows the boy to cut the whole tree down to build a boat and sail away. The boy returns as an old man. The tree stump has given everything to the boy, and still allows him a place to rest after a long life.  Like the tree in the book, this artwork will become more valuable as it is deconstructed and given away to make a difference in people’s lives.
