“The Cat in the Hat”
1,336 cans

The Cat in the Hat stands at eight feet tall with his friend ‘Norval’ alongside, sitting in his bowl atop a stack of books. On deciding what to "construct," the team agreed that the structure should be both fun and challenging. It was then they realized that nothing would be more fun than building an 8-foot tall replica of a character from a favorite childhood book. The can types play a big role in the design of the structure, as well. The team made sure to keep in mind where the cans were going after the competition, thus a variety of cans were selected which include: black beans, corn, pork and beans, an assortment of chili, tuna and mandarin orange slices. "Today was good. Today was fun. Tomorrow is another one."—Dr. Seuss
