Riverside Banner
ARTventure
--- a
project celebrating Riverside, “City of Arts and Culture”
-
Who is
sponsoring this event?
The Art Alliance of the Riverside Art Museum
is coordinating this enormous art exhibit. It is an outdoor
art show, a community service and a fundraiser rolled into
one. (All funds generated from this project will benefit
the Riverside Art Museum and its future exhibits and
programs.)
-
How does
this art project work?
Artists will be asked to create an original
work of art that will be replicated and turned into
beautiful banners that will hang from hundreds of city light
poles. The banners will be two-sided vinyl banners,
measuring approximately 30” wide and 96” long. These
beautiful banners will create an art show visible as you
drive down long avenues in three parts of our city.
Thousands of people will be able to see the banners daily!
Local companies and individuals will be asked to sponsor a
banner, and they will be given their choice of artwork to be
associated with. The show will begin in late March 2009,
and last for many months.
-
What
benefits are there for my participation?
Artists will have the opportunity
of seeing their artwork scanned, enlarged and displayed in
one or more street banners throughout the City of
Riverside beginning in late March 2009. In addition, there
will be an exclusive exhibition of selected banner art at
the Riverside Art Museum on April 2, 2009. All artists will
be invited to attend the exhibition, as well as all the
festivities associated with the Banner Project.
Artists will be included in an Exhibition Catalog and all
printed programs. Your information will also be displayed
on our web site at
www.riversideartalliance.org as well as
the museum website of
www.riversideartmuseum.org . In
addition, there will be a lot of media attention focused on
this project, as it involves collaborations between the City
of Riverside and the art community. Supporting the
non-profit Riverside Art Museum will benefit local artists
through the many programs and services it provides.
(The use and display of art is a tax deductible gift to the
museum to the extent the law allows.) There will also be
special awards given (see artist packet below).
